Over time, it underwent expansions in four phases. In the first phase, the surrounding land area was expanded to 228 hectares, allowing for the construction of auxiliary facilities, safety measures, ground services, firefighting, terminals, and management offices. Other sections of the airport, including the runway, were also developed and improved.
The second phase took place in 2007, expanding the airport’s land to 237 hectares on the western side of the airport. Subsequently, the third and fourth phases were implemented in 2017 to facilitate the runway for the landing and takeoff of wide-body aircraft.
